Sneetch Ultimate

Sneetch Ultimate was founded in 1994, largely due to Matissa Hollister’s love for the sport. Hollister (Haverford ‘94) started attending practices for the open team (what is now Haverford’s Big Donkey Ultimate) during her first year at Haverford — she had never played ultimate before but wanted to have something to do in the soccer off-season. Frisbee practice a couple times a week soon led to Hollister quitting the soccer team and playing ultimate full time. She was the only woman on the team at the time, and was playing on the A team by her sophomore fall. During her junior year, another woman, Meghan Cadwallader joined the team. Hollister became a team captain her senior year, more women began showing up to play, and they started talking about forming a women’s team. During their spring break trip to Myrtle Beach, the women on the team ended up watching a Sneetches VHS tape, loved the story, and decided that it would be a good name for the team... and the rest is history.

Mission

Sneetch Ultimate is Bryn Mawr and Haverford's bi-co ultimate frisbee team for women, nonbinary, and trans athletes. We are open to athletes of all skill levels and strive to foster a welcoming community for bi-co students. At our core, the Sneetches value inclusion, spirit, and having fun while tearing it up on the field. We are constantly working to develop and support women's sports, and we have a heck of a good time while doing so.

Vision

Our vision for the future is to continue to grow the team so that we have the numbers and skills to develop thriving A and B squads. We would love to continue to be competitive at the National level, with the goal of improving upon our recent performances at D-III College Nationals. At the end of the day, as long as there are flair-bedecked Sneetches having fun playing ultimate, we will be happy.
